theDan - 1982

...It was a good year...

theDan '82 was selected by the Undertone label for his abundant fruitful taste and most supple tannins. Ripe plum and black fruit aromas, with a hint of tobacco, make for a classy all-rounder. Rich, textured flavour with sweet ripeness, softened by a lengthy 24 years aging in the Malvern Estate and it's surrounding licensed establishments.

This fine red's aroma of citrus blossom and fresh cut flowers make for a bright, fruity style. An elegant red, with a rich mouthfeel and generous flavours of melon and spice, interwoven with a well balanced acidity. The finish is dramatic with lingering acidity and citrus flavours.

theDan '82 is the definitive in his class - produced from the top one per cent of available ingredients and then only in the years when those of extraordinarily high quality are available.

Matured in French Oak for 19 months, in his youth theDan '82 is intense - a tinge of pale blue mixed into the colour. Rich, ripe and complex, the bouquet is a voluptuous infusion of red berry, fermented yeast, malt and mushroom aromas merging with lifted, spicy new oak. He is warming, with persistent and mouth-filling ripe flavour and an excellent structure.

Immensely powerful flavour requires long term cellaring - 10 to 20 years - to fully appreciate its complexity.

As with many others like him, theDan '82 is only produced in exceptional vintages, earning a reputation as a benchmark quaffer. theDan '82 is rich and tight-bodied with sweet ripe fruit contained within a firm, superbly balanced tannin structure that is to be wont and will grow in complexity with 5 to 10 years.

Elegant and flavoursome, theDan '82 has earned a reputation for premium quality, consistency and exceptional value.

theDan '82 captures emmense varietal character in an instant upon first sampling.
The new vintage release of theDan '82 in 2007 is something of a quality long in waiting and not to be missed.

Under good cellaring conditions, theDan '82 will age gracefully for many years.

Indulge yourself.
